Anthony Veder places order for LNG tanker

Neptun Werft to deliver special-purpose ship in 2017

The Dutch shipowner Anthony Veder (Rotterdam) has placed an order with Neptun Werft in Rostock for the construction of a new Super 1A ice class LNG tanker. The tanker will transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) and will be approximately 161 metres long and 24.50 wide with a LNG loading capacity of 18,000 m³.

The tanker is scheduled for delivery to Anthony Veder by the end of 2017. The new ship is particularly environmentally friendly, since it is powered by the same liquefied gas that it is transporting.

This order (S. 575) will represent the second midscale LNG tanker that Neptun Werft in Rostock has built for the Anthony Veder. In spring 2012, Neptun Werft successfully de-livered its first LNG tanker, the Coral Energy, to Anthony Veder. Meyer Werft and Anthony Veder have cooperated on several occasions since the mid-1970s.
