NEPTUN WERFT officially handed over the Viking Eldir to Viking in Basel, Switzerland. The technical handover of the river cruise ship by the project management had already taken place in Lelystad in the Netherlands.
‘NEPTUN WERFT is delighted to deliver the Viking Eldir, another ship from the successful Longship series, to the Viking shipping company,’ said NEPTUN WERFT Managing Director Stephan Happe at the delivery in Switzerland.
With a capacity of 190 guests, the 135-metre-long Viking Eldir will sail routes along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. It is equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a diesel-electric drive and a battery system. This allows peak loads to be absorbed and significantly reduces fuel consumption.
