Employment safe – More Jobs for experts

While the global crisis in the maritime industry persists, during 2017 both MEYER WERFT and NEPTUN WERFT have seen continued further growth in their wellfilled order books with new orders for the cruise sector. Jobs are secure in the long term through to 2023. The shipyard's customer base currently includes nearly all major cruise shipping companies in the world.

This year the MEYER WERFT has set new standards in the branch particularly in terms of environment technology. The shipyard's new vessels such as the AIDAnova have heralded the advent of LNG on the market as the environmentally friendly fuel for the future of cruise vessels. With 12 LNG ships on its order books, MEYER leads this field in cruise shipbuilding. Intensive research is being pursued into fuel cell technology and other technical innovations for passenger ships.

In 2017, the MEYER WERFT in Papenburg delivered the cruise ships Norwegian Joy (Norwegian Cruise Line) and World Dream (Dream Cruises). The NEPTUN WERFT in Rostock-Warnemünde completed two river cruise ships for Viking River Cruises..

"Extensive investment particularly in IT technology is being accompanied by progressing digitisation", says Managing Director Tim Meyer. "Therefore we do need further employees. Thanks to our employees and partners, this year once again we have succeeded in keeping our customers satisfied when we hand over their ships," adds Meyer.
